Objectives

The course introduces to the knowledge of the main theoretical frameworks developed by the research in national and international mathematics, also with reference to the specific role of the teacher, to the conceptual, epistemological, linguistic and teaching nodes of teaching and learning mathematics. It provides basic elements for the design and analysis of mathematics teaching and learning activities at secondary school level, including in learning environments that use technology.
In particular, the student must acquire the following knowledge and skills.
Knowledge and understanding
Systematic and critical knowledge of the teaching and learning processes of mathematics in a scholastic situation with reference to the results of the research, the institutional framework, the teaching methods and the use of technologies.

Ability to apply knowledge and understanding
Use theoretical knowledge to analyze or construct educational paths; analyze reports and research studies, texts, articles, educational experimentation protocols. Re-elaborate their basic mathematical knowledge in relation to the didactic transposition of mathematics in secondary school of I and second degree, also in links with other disciplines of the scientific field.

Prerequisites

Knowledge of the the first degree in Mathematics

Contents

Theories of mathematics learning - Situation theory and didactic transposition in mathematics. The role of error and of the epistemological and educational obstacle in the teaching and learning of mathematics. (Analysis and examples in the fields of arithmetic, geometry algebra and elementary analysis). Didactic engineering, construction and analysis of learning environments on mathematical contents foreseen in the curricula or of development in relation to teaching innovations. Introduction to the functioning and management of evaluation processes in mathematics.

Teaching Methods

Lectures and Interactive lessons - Guided Practice with a strong participation of the students;. Workshops involving one or several students. Tools: Blackboard, computer, web, Moodle.

Verification of learning

Oral interview on an individual work and on the topics of the course.
Evaluation criteria: knowledge of the mathematical contents related to the course topics; didactic analysis and originality of individual work; clarity and correctness of oral exposure.
