Course Curriculum CFU Length(h)


• Knowledge and understanding: the course aims to provide the student with the necessary and indispensable tools to know and understand both the legal and bioethical implications of their health profession together with the main cognitive processes and the general principles of Hygiene and Epidemiology in the field of analysis of the socio-environmental determinants that influence the health of individuals and communities.
For these reasons, student must:
- Know and understand the legal, bio-ethical and medico-legal principles that rule the activities of health professionals; the main articles of the criminal and the civil code that may interest health care, with a peculiar focus on the legal concept of brain death, with knowledge and understanding of the strict diagnostic criteria required by the law and the applicable Health Ministerial Decrees with an in-depth understanding of the legislative changes that have occurred in the years.
- Understanding and critical elaboration of the concepts of responsibility, negligent conduct, autonomy, role and competence of the healthcare professional, with particular attention to the legal and juridical context in which he will eventually work.
- Know, understand, list and describe the main cognitive processes; provide application examples of each specific process; detect the scientific nature of the research presented; clearly communicate what has been learned and integrate knowledge, skills, and attitudes of care to deliver safe, effective, and evidence-based professional care;
- Know and understand the factors that affect the transition from infection to disease. Knowledge of the mechanisms of transmission, diffusion and prevention of infectious diseases transmitted directly and indirectly and of chronic degenerative diseases. Knowledge of the ways of spreading infectious agents in a hospital setting. Knowledge relating to the application of analytical test methods for assessing the health and hygiene quality of environments, air, water, and food.

• Application skills
Knowing how to identify, based on clinical, instrumental, and laboratory data, the main signs of brain death. The student must also prove that he has understood the areas of application of the main elements of the laws and regulations with a health content; of the mechanisms of direct prophylaxis (vaccinations, reporting) and indirect (food hygiene, water, air, surfaces), as well as being able to apply the knowledge acquired to quantify pathological events, risk factors, protective factors present in the community.

• Autonomy of judgment
Knowing how to evaluate not only the technical-instrumental data of the professional activity carried out but also their juridical, legal and bioethical context as well as the psychological dimension and the epidemiological and hygiene implications of the specific health activity that they will be called upon to carry out.

• Communication skills
The student will learn how to present relevant data on risks, health and safety. You will acquire the ability to communicate with colleagues, consultants, patients and relatives of the latter and to explain in a clear and prudent manner the development and outcome of the diagnostic procedures performed.

• Learning ability
The student will learn to acquire the technical and organisational skills of the main procedures concerning the criminal and civil codes on professional liability, conduct and fault, report and report of crime, injury, damage and death.

Legal Medicine and Bioethics
Basic information concerning criminal and civil codes, including some of the main procedural aspects. The imputability and the legal and civil capacity; professional responsibility and condemnable conduct under the various aspects of guilt; the main crimes and fines, both commissive and omissive, and malicious, negligent or involuntary conduct. Different legal qualifications assumed by health professionals in different contexts. Report and crime report. Personal injury and temporary and permanent biological damage. Accident at work and occupational diseases. TSO and ADO. Voluntary termination of pregnancy and criminal abortion. Thanatodiagnosis, with special focus on cerebrale death and differential criteria for whole brain death vs brain stem death and related diagnostic and certification activities, euthanasia, certification and health documentation with relative conservation obligations. Informed consent and professional secrecy. The Code of Ethics.

General psycology
The course illustrates the main cognitive processes (sensation, perception, memory, learning, attention, motivation, emotions). It provides the student with theoretical references, knowledge of the scientific method, applications and implications of these processes in the health sector.

Teaching Methods

Participated frontal lessons and exercises. During the lectures the teachers will encourage the dialogue aimed at understanding the processes explained in the classroom, for this purpose they will be able to use computer supports and video-projections. There will be exercises and work in small groups.

Verification of learning

L'esame finale del corso è basato sulla valutazione di una orale.
Il voto finale è espresso in trentesimi. La prova è superata se si consegue almeno la votazione di 18/30.

La valutazione verterà su:
- l’acquisizione delle nozioni e la conoscenza dei processi
- la conoscenza del linguaggio disciplinare
- la capacità di mettere in relazione concetti e conoscenze
- la capacità espositiva
Il voto finale tiene conto di:
Qualità delle conoscenze, abilità, competenze possedute e/o manifestate:
a) appropriatezza, correttezza e congruenza delle conoscenze
b) appropriatezza, correttezza e congruenza delle abilità
c) appropriatezza, correttezza e congruenza delle competenze
Modalità espositiva:
a) Capacità espressiva;
b) Utilizzo appropriato del linguaggio specifico della disciplina;
c) Capacità logiche e consequenzialità nel raccordo dei contenuti;
e) Capacità di collegare differenti argomenti trovando i punti comuni e istituire un disegno generale coerente, ossia curando struttura, organizzazione e connessioni logiche del discorso espositivo;
f) Capacità di sintesi.
Il giudizio può essere:
a) Sufficiente (da 18 a 20/30)
Il candidato dimostra poche nozioni acquisite, livello superficiale, molte lacune, capacità espressive modeste, ma sufficienti a sostenere un dialogo coerente; capacità logiche e consequenzialità nel raccordo degli argomenti di livello elementare; scarsa capacità di sintesi e di espressione grafica; scarsa interazione con il docente durate il colloquio.
b) Discreto (da 21 a 23)
Il candidato dimostra discreta acquisizione di nozioni, ma scarso approfondimento, poche lacune; capacità espressive piú che sufficienti a sostenere un dialogo coerente; accettabile padronanza del linguaggio scientifico; capacità logiche e consequenzialità nel raccordo degli argomenti di moderata complessità; più che sufficiente capacità di sintesi e di espressione grafica.
c) Buono (da 24 a 26)
Il candidato dimostra un bagaglio di nozioni piuttosto ampio, moderato approfondimento, con piccole lacune; soddisfacenti capacità espressive e significativa padronanza del linguaggio scientifico; capacità dialogica e spirito critico ben rilevabili; buona capacità di sintesi e capacità di espressione grafica piú che accettabile.
d) Ottimo (da 27 a 29)
Il candidato dimostra un bagaglio di nozioni molto esteso, ben approfondito, con lacune marginali; notevoli capacità espressive ed elevata padronanza del linguaggio scientifico; notevole capacità dialogica, buona competenza e rilevante attitudine alla sintesi logica; elevate capacità di sintesi e di espressione grafica.
e) Eccellente (30)
Il candidato dimostra un bagaglio di nozioni molto esteso e approfondito, eventuali lacune irrilevanti; elevate capacità espressive ed elevata padronanza del linguaggio scientifico; ottima capacità dialogica, spiccata attitudine a effettuare collegamenti tra argomenti diversi; ottima capacità di sintesi e grande dimestichezza con l’espressione grafica.
La lode si attribuisce a candidati nettamente sopra la media, e i cui eventuali limiti nozionistici, espressivi, concettuali, logici risultino nel complesso del tutto irrilevanti.
