General targets
Develop specific assistance plans resulting from the identification of nursing care needs for the person in critical condition
Analyzing the needs of nursing care in the critical patient by integrating the acquired knowledge
Develop educational, preventive, curative and palliative interventions in response to identified needs

Specific targets:
Describe the concepts of critical area, of a person in critical condition and specificity of nursing care in critical area
Describe the concept of emergency, urgency, rescue chain and survival.
Describe the Health Emergency System: the organization of the extra and intra hospital health system.
Describe the structural and organizational characteristics of: first aid, general and specialist intensive care.
Describe the concept of triage in its various fields of application.
Define the methodology of approach to the critical patient and the stabilization measures of vital functions: primary and secondary evaluation and stabilization.
Define the methodology of approach to the pediatric critical patient.
Recognize the most common emergency clinical situations, know how to identify the semeiotics, interpret the pathophysiology and symptoms, know the evolution and the diagnostic and therapeutic treatment and plan assistance in case of:
Cardiovascular arrest
Shock (hypovolaemic - normovolaemic)
Systemic anaphylaxis
Acute respiratory failure
Congestive heart failure
Coma and acute cerebrovascular accidents
Acute poisonings and poisonings
Politrauma – Trauma - Burns
Donation and transplantation
Analyze the main clinical-care problems and plan the assistance of the person in case of:
Anesthesia - intubation and tracheotomy - mechanical ventilation - thoracic drainage - vascular access - monitoring of vital functions
observation for the detection of brain death


It is essential to have acquired the knowledge of Physiopathology and semiotics of the respiratory, cardiocirculatory and neurological apparatus.

The emergency system network: role of the nurse
Assessment of vitality (CGS, Trauma score)
Concepts of emergency, urgency and critical patient
Emergency drugs and emergency management
Vascular accesses
Haemodynamic and respiratory monitoring
Acute respiratory failure and intubation and assistance to the patient in mechanical ventilation
Invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation modes and nursing assistance
Infections in the critical area and prevention: nursing role
Replacement feeding in critical area and nursing care
The extracorporeal purification in intensive care and nursing care
Poisoning and nursing assistance
General and local anesthesia
Donation and organ transplants
Cardiovascular arrest (BLS, ALS)
Cardiological emergencies and nursing care (IMA, EPA, Braditacharitmie)
Respiratory emergencies and nursing care Neurological emergencies and nursing assistance
Pediatric emergencies (respiratory distress, hypoglycemia, convulsions, etc.)
Polytrauma and major trauma and nursing care (spinal cord injury, cranial, thoracic and pelvis)
Management of first aid interventions: burns, minor trauma, accidental poisoning, electrocution

The student evaluation includes a multiple choice and open answer written exam.

knowledge of the disciplinary language
ability to relate concepts and knowledge

ability to design nursing assistance for plans, based on the conceptual reference model.
The score of the exam is assigned by a vote expressed in thirtieths.
The active participation of students in the lessons will also be positively evaluated.
To achieve a score of 30/30 cum laude, the student must instead demonstrate that he has acquired excellent knowledge of all the topics covered during the course.
