Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering

Michele Nitti is Assistant Professor at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (DIEE) of the university of Cagliari. In 2009 he received the Master Degree in Telecommunication Engineering magna cum laude. From March to August 2013, he was a visiting PhD student at the Department of Management, Technology and Economics (D-MTEC), ETH Zurich. In 2014 he received the PhD degree in Information Engineering at the University of Cagliari. In 2015 and 2019 he was Research Fellow at the DIEE of the University of Cagliari. From 2015 to 2018 he was an Assistant Professor at the same institution.

 

His main research interests are on the Internet of Things, particularly on: i) creation of network infrastructure to allow objects to organize themselves on the basis of a social structure; ii) trustworthiness management of network devices. He has published more than 40 papers on journals, international conferences and book chapters, for which he received more than 2100 citations and an h-index of 16. He is cofounder of the academic spin-off GreenShare Srl, which mainly offers ICT solutions for mobility. GreenShare’s most successful services are SmarTicket, TeseoApp e Clacsoon.

Michele Nitti is a member of the organizing committee of the IEEE IoT Vertical and Topical Summit for Tourism 2020 and the 2020 CNIT International Workshop on Connected Societies, both postponed to date to be defined due to the COVID-19 outbreak. He was a workshop chair for the 1st and 2nd Workshop on Smart Building and Internet of Things (SBIoT).

She currently serves as an editor for the Elsevier Computer Networks and Frontiers in Communications and Networks journals, and a guest editor for the IoT and Sensor Networks in Industry and Society Special Issue of the MDPI Energies journal.

 

He was an invited speaker for the Topical Area Track "Green Technologies - Environment, Sustainability and the Circular Economy" at the IEEE World Forum on Internet of Things (WF-IoT) 2019 and an invited keynote speaker at the "International Workshop of Trends and Challenges in Social Internet of Things "held during the 29th Annual IEEE International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications (PIMRC), 2018. He was technical Program Co-Chair and Session Chair at the 2017 IEEE International Symposium on Broadband Multimedia Systems and Broadcasting (BMSB), 2017. Finally, he was an invited speaker on the topic "Can the Wearables be Social?" at the 2016 International Summit on Smart Wearables Systems. He has been a member of the technical committee and speaker for several international conferences.

He currently serves as Associate Editor for the Elsevier Computer Networks, IEEE Internet of Things Journal and MDPI IoT and Guest Editor for the Special Issue "Recent Advances in Social Internet of Things" of the MDPI Sensors journal.
