Giorgio Montisci received the Laurea degree (summa cum laude) in electronic engineering and the Ph.D. degree in electronic engineering and computer science from the University of Cagliari, Italy, in 1997 and 2000, respectively.

In November 2000 he became an Assistant Professor, in 2015 an Associate Professor, and since 2022 he serves as a Full Professor of Electromagnetic Fields at the Dipartimento di Ingegneria Elettrica ed Elettronica, University of Cagliari, Italy, where he teaches courses in electromagnetics and microwave engineering.

He is a Member of the Editorial Board of IEEE ACCESS (quartile Q1), IET Microwaves Antennas & Propagation (quartile Q1), International Journal of Antennas and Propagation, and IET Electronics Letters.

In September 2006, He received the “Giorgio Barzilai” Award at the Italian Electromagnetic Society Conference for a paper on the microwave diagnostic of large reflector antennas. In 2020 and in 2021 he was awarded as IEEE Access Outstanding Associate Editor.

He is a Senior Member of the IEEE. Since 2017 he is associate to the National Institute for Astrophysics - Cagliari astronomical Observatory, and he is the scientific coordinator of the cooperation framework agreement between the University of Cagliari and the National Institute for Astrophysics.
