Rita Ambu graduated in Mechanical Engineering and later obtained a Ph.D. in Mechanical Design at the University of Cagliari. She continued her research activity first as contract researcher at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Cagliari and then as permanent researcher in the scientific area ‘Drawing and Industrial Engineering Methods’. Actually she carries out her research and didactic activity at the Department of Mechanical, Chemical and Materials Engineering.
Her research activity has been mainly focused on: development and application of optical techniques and methods based on image processing to the analysis of conventional and advanced materials; application of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) methodology and development of automatic procedures for manufacturing/functional optimization of industrial components; design and numerical analysis (FEM) of advanced systems for biomedical applications in Additive Manufacturing.
She is member of the Editorial Board of the Journal on Interactive Design and Manufacturing (IJIDeM) -Springer, reviewer of several international journals and has been component of Scientific Committees of International Conferences. She has also been referee for the evaluation of research projects for the Italian University and Research Ministry.
